UCF basketball just scored another great player this offseason, this one a transfer from Claredon Community College. Dior Johnson is coming to UCF averaging 29.7 points per game, 5.4 four rebounds, and 5.9 assists while in college.

Johnson, who hopefully isn't getting mixed up with Darius Johnson, started his college career at Pitt but never played a game because of legal issues. He then committed to Syracuse but reopened his commitment before attending and even signed with Oregon.

However, he ended up at Claredon Community College where he excelled. In high school, Johnson was once considered the No. 1 point guard in the country, but after playing at many different schools, he was ranked as the No. 90 overall recruit in his class.

After redshirting in 2022-2023, Johnson had three years of eligibility left, now coming to UCF he should have at least two years left. Ironically, the two Johnsons will most likely be used as the point guards for this team adding Mikey Williams into the mix.

There are questions about whether Williams will be able to play this season, but the addition of Johnson's skills, especially his scoring ability is what UCF desperately needs.

In 2023-2024, UCF's defense is what kept them in games and they would rely too much on one's players scoring each game. Whether it was Darius Johnson, Jaylin Sellers, Ibrahima Diallo, or anyone else on the team, UCF would rely too much on one person to carry the team. UCF ranked 13th in offense in the 2023-2024 season while their defense ranked third in the Big 12.

Hopefully, with this new team, they will be able to spread the ball more on offense and everyone will be able to pitch in when it comes to scoring.

Johnson will add a new look to this team and give Johnny Dawkins his pick of players to have on the court.
