UCF basketball officially knows their conference opponents for year two in the Big 12
UCF basketball exceeded everyone's expectations in the Big 12. After some rough years in the American Athletic Conference and not making the NCAA Tournament since 2019, the Knights won more games than what was expected and even took down some heavy hitters in the Big 12.
I myself can say that I never expected the Knights to win seven games in their first year in the Big 12. I would have probably guessed two or three, but seven was a surprise.
The Knights's biggest win easily had to be their first-ever Big 12 home game when they took down the No. 3 Kansas Jayhawks, practically the kings of Big 12 basketball. They also had upsets against Texas in Austin, Oklahoma, and Texas Tech.
UCF also made it past the first round of the Big 12 Tournament beating Oklahoma State, but they were unfortunately knocked out by fellow Big 12 newcomer, BYU.
Yes, the head coach Johnny Dawkins, just signed an extension at UCF, lost some big players, but they also did their work in the offseason and brought in great transfers and high-quality recruits. The reclassification of Moustapha Thiam, who will now join the Knights this season instead of next year, might have been the biggest news of the offseason.
With high hopes of improving in year two in the Big 12, easily the toughest basketball conference in the country, the Knights now know who they will face.
They will face every team in the Big 12 this upcoming season, including the four newcomers Colorado, Arizona, Arizona State, and Utah. They will have a home-and-away series against five teams, a home-only series against five teams, and an away-only series against five team.
