It has been a heavy week for the UCF Knights, as well as Appalachian State, after the passing of Shawn Clark.
Clark was the former head coach at Appalachian State and the current offensive line coach at UCF. About two weeks ago, Clark suffered a medical emergency that had him in the hospital for an extended period of time. UCF head coach Scott Frost had reported that Clark was stable and doing well days after the event.
Unfortunately, the news broke last Sunday, however, that Clark unexpectedly passed away at the age of 50. UCF coaches have answered questions all week on how the players are doing since the passing of one of their coaches, and it certainly has been a tough week, but the Knights are ready to go out and play for Clark.
This week and for the rest of the season, UCF will wear "SC" stickers on the pack of its helmets to honor Clark and his life.

Today, UCF will be in Manhattan as they take on Kansas State to start Big 12 play. This game just seems bigger though as UCF wants to go out and win this for Clark and honor his life.
ESPN College Gameday honored Clark by telling his story and having a moment of silence before going to commercial early in the show. They showed the decals that UCF and Appalachian State will wear for the rest of the season.
Head coach Scott Frost spoke earlier this week on the passing of Clark and told the media the way he has dealt with his grief and how he is working through it.
"The best thing you can do is keep going," Frost said. "I'm better when I'm working, but we're still going to get our work done and we're going to work hard, and I just think the emotions of the last couple weeks have worn people a little bit."
There is no doubt that today's game will be tough for the Knights emotionally, but they want to win for Clark. UCF is set to take on Kansas State at Noon on FS1.
