Kickoff was set for 7:00 p.m. in Orlando, but was delayed to a little after 8:00 p.m. That didn't seem to faze UCF one bit as they came out ready to play. UCF started the game with a bang with a 96-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to start out the game.

This is the first kickoff return for a touchdown at UCF since the 2017 season, the last season Scott Frost was with UCF. That kickoff return was huge as the Knights were facing their arch-rival USF in a ranked matchup for a spot in the American Athletic Association Championship game. Mike Hughes received the kickoff and went 99 yards for the touchdown to regain the lead with just minutes remaining.

While this kickoff return doesn't have quite as high stakes attached, it is still a sign of life in this UCF team that has not been seen in a long time. Andrew Brown received the kickoff and began his run, hurdled the defender, caught the seam on the sideline, and it was all speed from there.

This was a huge way for UCF to start off the game, especially after the rain delay. The stadium was already rocking, full again even with the delay, but this had it even more hyped up with fans getting the feeling of nostalgia.

While yes, UCF is facing North Carolina A&T, maybe not the most high-profile opponent, for the Knights to score 28 points in the first quarter with an interception, two fumbles, and a kickoff return for a touchdown is huge for the morale of this team and its fans. This is the offensive explosion UCF fans have been starving for for over a year, and now, with Frost back with the team, there is hope for the future.
