EA Sports is getting ready to release the second installment of the newly revived game, College Football 26. The game made it big return to the shelves last year, and its anticipated arrival made for huge numbers after the release. Now, almost a year later, the newest edition of the game is set to be released in a few months, and with the cover now revealed, all that was left was the trailer, which dropped today.
A plethora of teams were featured in the game trailer, some of the bigger schools like Michigan, Notre Dame, and Texas getting the most screen time, but other smaller programs got their two second of fame as well. UCF's rival across the state, USF, even had its mascot featured in the game, but UCF was nowhere to be found.
Now, UCF took a big fall last season, and that is never going to be disputed by the fans, but that doesn't mean their brand isn't still big and doesn't deserve to be featured in the trailer. Having USF, a team that hasn't had a lot of success for a while now, featured and not UCF seems ridiculous.
UCF, of course, will still be in the game as all FBS teams will be featured in the game, so don't worry, Knights, you can still play with your favorite UCF players like RJ Harvey in the newest addition of the game.
UCF football is going through some big changes
It is no surprise that UCF is going through a lot of change when it comes to its football program. Some things feel a little familiar with Scott Frost coming back as the head coach, however, he has brought in a very different coaching staff, starting with his new quarterbacks coach, a former UCF quarterback who led the Knights to their undefeated 2017 season, McKenzie Milton.
Frost had to build this team up from the transfer portal, as a large portion of the team fled after Malzahn left for Florida State to become the offensive coordinator. His first big pickup was Tayven Jackson, quarterback from Indiana, who took over for the Hoosiers for a few games when their starter Kurtis Rourke went down with. thumb injury and helped preserve their undefeated season to that point.
The Knights are expected to do much in 2025 as they are predicted to finish in the bottom part of the conference by many sports news outlets. Frost could surprise everyone just like he did back in 2016, but he has a lot of work to do.
