UCF and Cincinnati are still set to face off in Orlando after Hurricane Milton
UCF football has been standing by, waiting for the decision of whether or not they will be playing against Cincinnati this weekend. While the state of Florida awaited the arrival of Hurricane Milton, UCF remained closed until officials deemed it safe not only for a football game but simply for students to be on campus.
Hurricane Milton ended up hitting the state of Florida as a major Category 3 hurricane and swept across the state, including the Orlando area as a Category 2 and then a Category 1 hurricane. All games set to take place in Florida this weekend were up in the air due to the uncertainty of when and where this catastrophic storm would hit.
The Tampa Bay area took the brunt of this storm, but the Orlando area, which is just East of Tampa, sustained a good amount of damage as well, but not quite as bad as the Tampa Bay area. The USF-Memphis game ended up being moved to Camping World Stadium in Orlando on Saturday as well.
The Big 12 was in talks with both UCF and Cincinnati and ultimately decided that the area was safe enough for both teams and the fans to attend the game as scheduled at 3:30 p.m. EST on Saturday in FBC Mortgage Stadium.
More details as to what campus will look like or what tailgating will look like on Saturday will follow from UCF, but as of now, the game will resume as planned. Fans can follow the announcement for tailgating and pre-game activities by checking with UCF on social media.
