Scott Frost finally said the quiet part out loud when it came the Nebraska job

Scott Frost definitely ruffled some feathers at Big 12 Media Days, especially the Nebraska fanbase.

Big 12 Media Days began yesterday on July 8, and the UCF Knights were one of the first teams featured. At media days, the head coaches are the first to speak, and while this is the first time Scott Frost is at media days for the Big 12, this is not his first time at media days with the UCF Knights. The last time Frost was in this position with the Knights was when they were a part of the American Athletic Conference, before he took the job at Nebraska.

Frost has a lot of questions to answer when it comes to his decision to take the job at Nebraska and leave UCF after just having the best season in program history and declaring themselves National Champions. So, of course, one of the questions asked of Frost yesterday was what the biggest thing he learned was from his time at Nebraska, and Frost's answer was way better than anyone expected it to be.

"Don't take the wrong job," Frost said.

He certainly got right to the point and did not sugarcoat anything for Nebraska fans. Granted, Frost went into more detail than just that one comment, which gave more insight into why he said it wasn't the right job for him.

"I said I wouldn’t leave unless it was someplace you could win a national championship,” Frost said. “I got tugged in a direction to try to help my alma mater, and didn’t really want to do it; it wasn’t a good move. I’m lucky to get back to a place where I was a lot happier.”

Scott Frost practically admits to Nebraska being the problem

Even though Scott Frost said he wanted to keep his interviews about UCF, earlier, he certainly didn't hold back about what he learned at Nebraska. Frost was not shy in saying he felt pushed to take the job at Nebraska, and it just really wasn't the right job for him.

It was puzzling when Frost chose to leave UCF, given how much success he had built in just two seasons. Frost took over a Knights program that was winless in 2025 and brought it back to bowl eligibility in 2016 and then, of course, the famous undefeated season in 2017. So, for Frost to have that much success that fast and then leave certainly raised questions.

Yes, he was leaving for his Alma Mater, but clearly it just wasn't the right coaching job for him. While Nebraska fans can be bitter about his time in Lincoln and say he is just going to be as bad back at UCF, no one really knows. Frost could surprise everyone and bring UCF back to the level of success it once had.
