The Big 12 has officially announced their first-ever Alumni Council which will be made up of two alumni from either men's or women's sports from each of the 16 schools in the conference. These alumni will provide guidance to Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark when it comes to thoughts on different topics such as brand building, athlete relations, storytelling, digital content, and so much more.
Two of UCF's most loved alumni will serve on the 32-person former student-athlete council. The two former Knights that will represent UCF are former football star Shaquem Griffin and former men's basketball star Tacko Fall.
Griffin was a star at UCF for what he did on and off the field. On the field, he was a ferocious linebacker known for getting to the quarterback in timely moments, most timely in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl back in 2017. Off the field, he was known for going out into the community mostly in children's hospitals, and talking with children who had lost limbs, Griffin himself only had one hand due to a condition when he was a child.
Fall was famous for his height when playing basketball for the Knights. Fall comes in at 7-foot-6 and was the tallest player in college basketball during his time. Most of the time when he would go to dunk we wouldn't even have to leave the ground or would just hop to get to the basket.
Both Fall and Griffen will get perks from the Big 12 as well for being a part of the Big 12 Alumni Council including access to the Big 12's Business Advisory Board for professional networking, league support of the council member's community initiatives, media opportunities on behalf of the league and VIP access to all Big 12 Championships and Conference events.
When the four newcomers from the Pac-12 officially join the conference in August, the council will take effect.
