Four former UCF Knights make the 2025 College Football Hall of Fame ballot

UCF could have its first-ever College Football Hall of Fame inductees later this year.

The 2025 College Football Hall of Fame ballot has been released and four former Knights found themselves listed this year.

David Rhodes, Bernard Ford, Ed O'Brien, and Charlie Pierce headline the Knights for the ballot. That makes two placekickers and two wide receivers who have the opportunity to make it to the College Football Hall of Fame.

UCF has not had a player or coach inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. There is no guarantee that these four will be inducted, but four on the ballot is better than none.

In order to even be considered for the College Football Hall of Fame, the player must have been a First-Team All-American while in college. In order to be on the ballot, the player also has to of been out of college for at least 10 seasons.

This is a prestigious honor that only 1,000 players and coaches have been awarded so far. Rhodes, Ford, O'Brien, and Pierce have the chance to be the first Knights ever to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Bernard Ford was named a First-Team All-American at UCF in 1987 and was a Harlon Hill Trophy Finalist. He is also ranked in the top 10 on 14 of the UCF record boards including having the most receiving yards in a single season with 1,403.

Ed O'Brien was. a placekicker for UCF and earned his First-Team All-American in 1987 as well with Ford. He holds the record for career field goals made at UCF with 50, field goals attempted with 77, and the longest field goal made at 55 yards.

Charlie Pierce is the other placekicker and punter for UCF on this list and was a First-Team All-American in 1993. He holds UCF records for punts with 173, punt yardage with 7,111, and points scored with 297.

David Rhodes is the last player on the ballot for UCF and the other wide receiver. He earned his First-Team All-American in 1993 and holds the UCF records for most career receptions with 213, receiving yards with 3,618, and receiving touchdowns with 29. He also had three 1,000-receiving-yard seasons and is the only Knight to do so.

Voting will take place throughout the year the players chosen will be inducted during the induction ceremony in December 2024.
