As many people in college sports would say, UCF fans are quite an interesting bunch. Now some may take that as a bad thing, but as a UCF fan myself, I take it as a compliment.

However, some of the best memories a UCF sports fan has are the traditions done at almost every game, whether it is playing Zombie Nation, jumping in sync with every fan in the stands,

So looking at UCF’s somewhat short sports history, what are some of the best fan traditions?

U-C-F chant during Zombie Nation

Whether it is bouncing in the Bounce House, Addition Financial Arena, or the Plex, when Zombie Nation comes on, every UCF fan knows what to do. Everyone begins bouncing the beat and screaming the melody of the song.

However, there is another thing all fans do and that is spell out U-C-F at the right time in the song. Chanting U-C-F Knights is one of the best parts of Zombie Nation as a Knights fan. It also makes you think about UCF anytime you hear the song, no matter where you are.

Knights Lights

This is another tradition that goes along with the Zombie Nation song and that is Knight Lights. Knight lights are when everyone pulls out their phone and turns on their flashlight as Zombie Nation plays.

The Arena or Stadium lights turn off and everything is lit up by the fan’s flashlights. Sometimes they will play sound bites of a performer telling everyone to put their lights down and then up, and as fans follow directions, the stadium is illuminated and then dark, until it comes time to jump around again.

Spirit Splash

Now this tradition is not one that is done every game day, but it is a beloved Homecoming tradition at UCF that is like none other. Spirit Splash is when students gather around the UCF Reflection Pond and wait for the green light to run into the pond.

Once the pond is full, players of the football and cheer teams begin to throw little rubber ducks to the students that connect to the theme of homecoming week.

The superstition is that if you catch a duck, you are guaranteed to graduate from UCF. These ducks are so popular, that they are found being auctioned off on eBay.

Spirit Splash is the best Homecoming tradition in the country and every student and UCF fan should partake in it at least once.
