Big 12 football power rankings post-spring: How will UCF fair in year 2 in the Big 12
UCF expected more out of their first season in the Big 12, but they still finished better than any of the other newcomers to the conference. However, year two has big things in store for the Knights.
Now with a year under their belt and knowing how things run a little better, UCF is primed to have a better season and maybe even contend for a Big 12 title. With new recruits and new transfers coming in, UCF is set to have a better team, and more importantly a better defense.
However, even though UCF has gotten better, that means a lot of other Big 12 teams have gotten better. With the departure of Oklahoma and Texas from the conference and the addition of Arizona, Arizona State, Utah, and Colorado, the Big 12 title is open more now than ever.
So how does UCF rank against all the other Big 12 teams after spring practices, games, and the spring portal closed? Here is a post-spring Big 12 ranking.
Arizona State is coming off a very rough 2023 season and on top of that, they are moving into a new conference. Head coach Kenny Dillingham is moving the program in a better direction, but to build a program that was so depleted takes time.
While Dillingham has brought in good talent and it seems as though the Sun Devils could do better than they have in recent years, there is one big question looming. Who is going to be successful at the quarterback position?
Arizona State has four quarterbacks on the roster right now and three of them are transfers, so they have a lot to learn within the Sun Devil program. If none of those quarterbacks can play well enough for Dillingham, it could be another long season at Arizona State. Hope can be seen, but again it is going to take some time.
